Okay, so if you've just arrived at this blog from somewhere like Hat Plays Sims or eBay, then you found my doll collecting blog! Welcome! I'm sporadically active here (I'm sporadically active everywhere, it's why my business is named On Again, Off Again), but the pictures aren't going anywhere. I'm Almighty Hat, and I use that name or a variation (almightyhat, Almighty_Hat) everywhere I go. You can call me Hat, it's fine, and it's a lot faster to type and easier to pronounce than my actual name.
As a doll collector, I have a lifelong collection of Barbies, a middling-old collection of Robert Tonner dolls, a handful of Riley Kish and friends, a recent but surprisingly expansive collection of Monster High dolls (where were those when I was a kid?), and a small business in 1:12 scale dollhouse miniatures. ... Plus three life-sized child dolls I got before I became an auntie, a smattering of action figures, and a shelf full of Alice in Wonderland... stuff. (The Alice Shelf is a wonderful excuse to get miniature teacups and teapots and tea sets in any old scale.)
Lately I've been doing reviews of new Monster High stuff I get.
I almost always have stuff for sale on eBay here, auctions closing every week on Sunday, starting in the five o'clock hour (Pacific Time). I have a Spoonflower shop right here, full of tiny prints for (right now) Monster High boys-- there will be more tiny prints in the future, but I test everything on my dolls before it goes public for anyone else's. If you like what I do here and want to support it, but don't want to go shopping, I do have a PayPal tip jar:
And I just launched a (bare-bones) Patreon!
Become a Patron!
Sales, tips, and donations make it easier to pay my bills, feed my cats, and buy more dolls, so I always appreciate them.
If you contact me through some method you found on this blog (private message or email) rather than through eBay, I am willing to both pull something off of eBay to sell for you and pull something off of eBay to trade with you. My ultimate aim is to preview items for a week or so on the blog (probably 'or so') before putting them on eBay, so I can not only offer you items for sale or trade but arrange payment plans (which I can't do on eBay), but that's Future Plans and who knows what will happen in reality.
Currently I only have one wishlist up, but if you want to barter with me, here's my Monster High wishlist.
If you see something on the Stuff I Made tag that you want for your own, feel free to contact me about commissioning a duplicate. I'm considering opening up knot-method saran re-root commissions, too; if that sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to get in touch.
You can always contact me by leaving a comment; anonymous messaging is enabled so you don't even need your own Dreamwidth account. OpenID comments and private messages are enabled, so if your preferred blogging platform uses OpenID, you can leave a signed comment or send me a private message. You can also contact me via email as actuallyalmightyhat AT gmail DOT com. (I'd use the proper symbols but I get more spam that way.) You can also message me as almightyhat on DeviantArt if that makes you more comfortable, or if you're on Garden of Shadows, Plumb Bob Keep, or Mod The Sims, you can send me private messages there (I'm Almighty Hat all three places, but I don't fully recommend messaging me at Mod the Sims, as I don't get email alerts for that site and it might be a while before I notice your message).
Sales Policies
All items are from a smoke-free, cat-friendly home. For your safety, if you have allergies, please assume whatever you're buying from me has come into contact with cat hair and/or dander. Penelope doesn't specifically target the dolls, but she DOES target flat surfaces, tall furniture, and whatever I'm doing that isn't paying attention to her. Theodore is very similar, but he's a poor jumper so instead of tall furniture, he spends as much time as he can in my lap, and gets even more jealous when I'm doing things that aren't paying attention to him.
My guaranteed shipping day is Tuesday, every week. I may be able to ship more often, but if all else fails, your order will ship the Tuesday after you pay.
I accept payment through PayPal, check, money order, and although it makes me nervous, I won't turn down concealed cash. At this time I can only take credit card payments through PayPal or in person. I'm happy to negotiate layaways or payment plans.
Items will be shipped USPS First Class or Priority Mail, depending on weight, with tracking included except on four-or-fewer Monster High diaries. Purchases over $50 will be insured at no cost to the buyer; purchases under $50 can be insured if the buyer pays for it. I can ship USPS Parcel Select but don't like to (Parcel Select packages always seem to arrive battered), or through FedEx or UPS, at the buyer's request, but this may include actual shipping charges. I may also be able to meet in person to save you shipping costs, but that's harder to arrange.
California residents will be charged 8.63% sales tax.
Trade Policies:
I'm delighted to trade for items on my wishlist! I've gotten some of my best stuff through trade and barter. If you want to trade with me, contact me and let me know what you have to trade and what you want from me, and from there, we'll negotiate.
Here's what's not negotiable:
Except in cases of a hilarious weight discrepancy (for example, I would happily trade fifteen nude dolls for Rochelle's Haunted diary), we each pay our own shipping costs, including tracking.
We try to ship within a few days of each other. Just. You know. Best effort. Stuff happens.
You provide photographic proof that you have what you say you have. I may ask you to take a picture with something specific in there with the item (like a scrap of paper with a star or a smiley-face or a silly word on it) to prove you haven't just googled for pics.
I would very much prefer if we worked out who's getting what from who before shipping anything. I've had people send me things in advance of trades and then never email me back, it's frustrating. If you need more time because of Reasons, just let me know.
If all goes well, we should have a bargain!
Abandoned Trades
If you send me trade items before you decide what you want from me, or as advance payment for a trade commission, and then just stop contacting me (this has happened! Several times! It's really weird!), here's what I'll do:
1. Wait for a week. Maybe something came up. Things happen.
2. Try to contact you a minimum of three times over the course of the following week. If you emailed me, you'll get emails from all three of my addresses in case there's a spam problem. If you PM'd me, I'll PM you and, if I can, leave a comment on your blog (if you have comments enabled, anyway), and post an entry to my Dreamwidth asking you to contact me. If I know your tumblr URL and you allow anonymous messages, I will send you an ask and a submission asking you to contact me. If I have your snail mail address, I will send you a note asking you to contact me. Basically I will do everything short of a phone call.
3. Two weeks from the date of your last contact, I go back to waiting. The ball is in your court at this point, and I don't bother trying to contact you again.
4. Four weeks after I shut up-- six weeks from the date of your last contract-- I consider the trade or trade commission cancelled, and anything you sent me to secure the trade is forfeit and thus, mine now.
