A frustrating thing about taking pictures for a review when you have a whole stack of dolls to do?

Not a one of my pics of the intact front of Clawdeen's box turned out. Oh well.

Okay so what we have here is the Welcome To Monster High Dance the Fright Away Clawdeen. I have Deuce-- well, I sold his head, I have the rest of Deuce-- and technically Cleo (kept the body, head's gonna be Dedyet), and Moanica's outfit; finding Clawdeen and Lagoona at TJ Maxx for six bucks each was a lucky find. Now I just need Frankie and Draculaura, who I sorta slept on, and Abbey, who never appeared anywhere.

And the back of Clawdeen's box. No art, which is kind of a bummer, just photos-- and a big ol' TJ Maxx price tag proving my bargain-finding prowess.

Clawdeen comes with a surprisingly complex minidress, sandals, a molded-plastic fur... shoulder thingy, and a mask on a stick. (The stand didn't come with her.) There's nothing wrong with any of the pieces, but the whole thing feels super bare.

Dance the Fright Away is a masquerade, sort of, and Clawdeen has little crescents in her honestly otherwise very fresh and simple makeup. Seriously my chief complaint with Reboot Clawdeen is that none of her looks seem to push it far enough-- they all seem to stop just short of really looking like Clawdeen.

So, dress, shoulder ornament stole thing, and mask. The dress is nice enough-- I feel like it needs some kind of big splash of bright gold or lime green, but it's still a good dress-- the mask is a pearly lime green and really cute, and honestly I want to paint that shoulder thingy and integrate it into Clawdeen's wardrobe. They're great pieces.

And so are these shoes. The straps! The studs! The crescent moon heels!

Clawdeen's hair is in a loose, brushable style that feels very young-- I do feel like one of the things the reboot did was knock everybody down from sixteen-adjacent to fifteen-adjacent.

But there's actually more going on in the hairstyle than one might expect from a simple half-ponytail. It is still too simple for Clawdeen Wolf At A Party, though.

Okay, dress details. The pattern on the sheer ruffle is moon phases! I was delighted to notice that.

The tiger stripes are also deceptively complex-- they're not just golden-yellow and purple, there's a hit of lime green in there, too.

Closeup on the Shoulder Ornament of Doom, these would be great fun recast in other colors, not just for Clawdeen but for, say, Toralei.

Monster High accessories bring the detail; the handle of Clawdeen's mask is fuzzy!

The mask itself is very cartoony, but honestly for what it is, that works.

But how does it look on Clawdeen? ... Not super fantastic, actually, because it doesn't like to sit close to her face unless it's under her nose (weird, the mask HAS a nose) or over her eyes (it's not that kind of mask).

Makeup details! I really do wonder if Reboot Clawdeen is supposed to be still developing her style. Because I can see the girl who wore purple leopard spot eye shadow to the first day of a new Scaremester, or who painted a crescent moon across half her face to play guitar at a talent show, or who buzzed her sides and dyed what was left lavender with leopard spots for a Halloween party... but it looks like she's still going for dainty-and-feminine instead of confident and bold.

Okay so when I was stripping Clawdeen to chuck the doll in the Body Donor bag, I discovered all this under the purple thingy! I thought it was just a simple halter dress or sleeveless dress under there, but no!

Fancy mesh back and straps! It was a fantastic surprise, but why cover it?

In Conclusion:

I would not have bought this doll for much more than what I paid for her, because-- Because Clawdeen has a gallon baggie full of clothes and accessories, in my house, and although I love those shoes, none of the pieces here were pieces I needed. Still, I'm happy to have a backup Reboot Clawdeen body with good joints just in case I need one, and... six dollars, man. That's a pretty good price for what I'm essentially using as a fashion pack.
